Practice Profile
Dr Obiakor started the practice in July of 1990 when he joined the obstetrics and gynecology faculty practice at State University of New York Health Science Center, Brooklyn N.Y. after graduation from residency in obstetrics and gynecology in June 1990 at New York University, N.Y.
In 1992 he incorporated the Ifeanyi C. O. Obiakor MD. PC, and relocated the practice from Downstate Hospital to 1917 Bedford avenue in Brooklyn. In 1998 Dr Barbara Gordon joined the practice after graduating from residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of New Mexico.
Continuing growth of the practice warranted further expansion for space, good ambience, and state of the art office equipment, so again on February 1st 1999, the practice was relocated to 1854 Bedford avenue.
We are proud to be located in a historical landmark preservation neighborhood, Prospects Lefferts Manor, in Flatbush Brooklyn N.Y. and we invite you whenever you visit our office to take a few moments and savor the impressive and diverse architecture of our neighborhood.
Our physicians are proud members of several professional organizations including American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, New York State Medical Society, American Medical Association, National Medical Association, Brooklyn Gynecological Society, Kings County Medical Society, Providence Medical Society, and American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine.

I.C. Obiakor, MD Physician 
Ifeanyi C.O. Obiakor MD attended Roosevelt University, Chicago Illinois, where he obtained a Bachelor’s in biology in 1980. In 1984 he graduated from Saint Louis University Medical School and went into Internal Medicine training. In 1986 he went into residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and graduated from New York University in 1990. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and has served Assistant Clinical Professor in obstetrics and gynecology, State University of New York, Brooklyn, and as Associate Director Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology Saint Mary’s Hospital Catholic Medical Center, Brooklyn. |

Barbara Gordon, MD. Physician 
Barbara Gordon, MD attended Brooklyn College for her Bachelor Degree, and New York Medical college for her medical degree, and thereafter completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of New Mexico, Albuquerque New Mexico, in 1998. She joined Obiakor obstetrics and gynecology PC after her residency. |

Marian Williams, B.Sc., RDMS, RDCS. Sonographer 
Marian Williams B.Sc., RDMS, RDCS earned her Bachelor Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, New York in 1986. Her professional experience include six years as staff sonographer and one year as supervising sonographer at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn New York, and six years as Chief Sonographer in the Maternal Fetal Evaluation Unit at Saint Vincent’s Hospital, New York where her current focus is high risk pregnancies. She is a member of Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine. |

Hello! My name is Nadia James I am the Administrative Assistant in the office. I started working at the office in June 1999 as Medical Assistant and my tasks included triaging patients, assisting the doctors in the rooms, drawing blood, and putting laboratory works in the computer. After three weeks in that position I was given another position as a Medical Associate and my daily tasks included greeting patients, verifying patients insurance and scheduling appointments. As of October 1, 1999 I became Administrative Assistant. My current duties include scheduling surgeries, insurance verification, typing letters for patients on various issues. |

Hi! My name is Tikisha Rogers. I completed the Medical Assistant program at Drake School of Manhattan New York in 1998 and joined Obiakor Obstetrics and Gynecology PC in July 1999. My duties here include triaging patients, preparing and assisting with patient examinations, sending and following up on laboratory results. My job is very challenging and important to the practice. |

Hi!
My name is Lisa Persaud. I joined Obiakor Obstetrics and Gynecology
PC in December 1999 shortly after completing my Bachelor Degree
at City University of New York. My daily functions include scheduling
and following up on appointment, verifying insurance, answering
the phones, registering new patients, and assisting the physicians
when needed. As a pre-med. major I hope to ultimately follow in
the footsteps of my employers and go to medical school, however
I hope to specialize in pediatrics.
